Stamps2Go Assistant Upgrade Instructions

If you are currently using Stamps2Go Assistant v1.82 or earlier, you will need to take some simple steps to make sure your existing stamp data is imported into Stamps2Go Assistant 2.0 or later. This is necessary because beginning with Stamps2Go Assistant 2.0, your data is stored within the User\AppData folder on your Windows system.

Follow this procedure;

  1. IMPORTANT: Do not uninstall your previous version of Stamps2Go Assistant yet!
  2. Download the new version of Stamps2Go Assistant by clicking the "Download Stamps2Go Assistant" button on the Stamps2Go Assistant download page, or click HERE.
  3. Install the new program by clicking on the downloaded "S2GAssistant.application" file. There are no install options to worry about ... the program is automatically installed in your Windows User folder.
  4. The "Stamps2Go Assistant Setup" page will be displayed. If you are a registered Stamps2Go seller, fill in the Stamps2Go UserID and Password. Don't worry about the other setup options at this point. Just click the "OK" button to continue.
  5. You will now see the Stamps2Go Assistant main page ... with no stamps listed. Note that the version number at the left side of the title bar should say "Stamps2Go Assistant v2.0.x.x".
  6. Exit from the new version of Stamps2Go Assistant.
  7. Start your previous version of Stamps2Go Assistant. The version number on the title bar should say "Stamps2Go Assistant v1.82" or earlier.
  8. Click the "Setup" menu and make sure your Backup Directory is set to a location on your hard disk where you know how to find it. It would be a good idea to set the Backup Directory somewhere outside of the "Program Files" directory structure. That will keep the Windows User Account Control (UAC) from being an issue. A good suggestion would be to create a directory in the root of your hard drive like "C:\S2GBackup". That way you'll know exactly how to find it. Make a note of the backup directory you choose. Click "OK" to exit the "Setup" menu.
  9. If you are a registered Stamps2Go seller, do a synchronization by clicking the "Stamps2Go" menu, then selecting "Synchronize Sale Listings".
  10. Click the "File" menu and select "Backup Data File". This will cause all of your data to be saved in the backup directory.
  11. Exit from the old version of Stamps2Go Assistant.
  12. Start the new version of Stamps2Go Assistant. Make sure you have the right version by checking that the version number on the title bar is v2.0.x.x or later.
  13. Click the "Setup" menu and enter the path to the backup directory (folder) where you backed up the data from the old version. You can use the "Browse" button to find the folder instead of typing it in. Click "OK" to exit from the "Setup" menu.
  14. Click the "File" menu and select "Restore From Backup". A warning message will pop up - which you can ignore by clicking "Yes" to continue.
  15. Your Stamps2Go Assistant data should now be ready to go in the new version of Stamps2Go Assistant.
  16. Click the "Setup" menu and set the Backup Folder to the desired location for your new Stamps2Go Assistant backups.

Once you have the new version of Stamps2Go Assistant installed, you should uninstall the previous version. Once you have begun using the new version, you should never use the previous version because it will not have access to the new database.
